This publication provides an overview of that work, which is why it is termed Snapshots of Change. The insights in the stories here represent almost 900,000 lives that we have touched this year in health, education, economic empowerment and through charitable giving. I invite you to delve into these stories which provide a powerful window to our work.

This was yet another phenomenal year for the Safaricom Foundation. As always, the demand for our support was high – pointing to the reality that as corporates we still have a valuable and important role to play in our societies, to ensure that our success is shared. This is our approach to shared value – that through the profits our commercial work generates we can give back to the communities in which we operate.

Our work of giving back, is done in a way that is both strategic and meaningful. It is led by the staff of the Safaricom Foundation, but they do not work alone. Our teams across the country, whether in sales, in regional offices or in admin, provide that critical stretch capacity that has allowed us to reach all 47 counties this year.

Different initiatives demand different skills, and I am proud to share that our teams continually rise to the demand. Some staff are mentors to students in secondary schools; some are fundraisers – using their own resources towards causes that they care for which we then match; some serve as Foundation Trustees; while others are outreach partners, using their contextual knowledge in different parts of Kenya to ensure efficiencies in our cost of delivery and to provide support to the Nairobi based foundation team. Together we deliver on the promise of the Foundation thereby meeting the needs of communities across the country. Together we are transforming lives.
